HEALING

Arthur has been both a wonderful healer and beacon of support for me.  He has taught me techniques that will stay with me for the rest of my life and he has helped me learn, grow and heal from my hardships. I feel very blessed to have such a gift as Arthur in my life.
-- E.S, M.D.

My wife, my daughter and I have received treatments from Arthur and we all have benefited from them. Arthur is a kind, sensitive, and caring person, and we are all grateful to know him. Arthur has many healing techniques, and he is very gentle in his touch. He always brings positive energy into the room, and his cheerfulness and sense of humor are always uplifting.
-- E.H.

I have studied healing with Arthur, practiced his methods on numerous people, and also treated him. All in all, his style is inexplicable. I try sometimes to say a few words about the techniques when people press me. But it always ends up sounding trivial. As a healer and a scentist, I think the best I can say is that his approach is one of humility towards the great mysteries of life and illness, along with a deep understanding of how vital energy works. These two together at times produce a result that all healers hope for.

Arthur has an uncanny ability to intuit the source of a your pain and distress, and to heal or lead you to the work that you must do to heal.

MARTIAL ARTS

Arthur Goodridge is one of those rare human beings who lights up a room -- quite literally. As a teacher, musician, martial artist and healer, his "lighten-ed" approach to life is contagious; one can't help but feel en-lightened in his presence. In his decades of practice, he has developed a highly attuned perspective which makes him an exquisitely accurate teacher and practitioner. He sees body mechanics and energetics vividly, and directs his teaching and healing, compassionately, to that source.

I began Tai Chi and then Qigong classes with Arthur about two years ago. I was suffering from a painful rotator cuff tear in my left shoulder that one surgeon said needed surgical repair, as well as significant job and personal stress. The gentle, meditative practice of tai chi and especially qi gong has proved healing to body and soul. Recently, I did 22 push-ups (from the knees with crossed ankles) in three minutes; I was "off the charts" for a person of my age they said. As I contemplate retirement and the life changes that entails, friends who are not practitioners, but know that I am warned me, "just don't give up your qi gong". And I won't.
--Sharon Dombeck

Arthur is a rare find in the martial arts. He has clearly mastered the traditions. He has also made them his own, so they are not just words orplatitudes. The understanding is vital, personal. This allows him to adapt the study to the present moment, to the students in the class and their level of skill and inquiry.
--Michael Clarage, Ph.D.

Lots of people teach tai chi and chi kung…Arthur teaches energy!
Arthur’s teaching is creative, drawing on traditional forms and methods, as well as his own techniques developed out of his profound understanding of movement, energy and the human body. He feels a responsibility to each student to help that student develop to his or her potential. Studying with Arthur is a personal exploration – and never dull!
–Betty K. (student for the past 10 years)

I have been studying with Arthur for 8 years and am constantly amazed at the freshness of each class. It's as if we (his students) are being given the opportunity to explore with him as he continues to develop his own practice. It is very challenging and to me very exciting!
–Jane Arsham

Arthur Goodridge lives and breathes the true essence of tai chi, and his innovative teaching methods allow his students to acquire the same ability. Well-versed in several of the internal energy arts (tai chi, ba gua, hsing i, reiki) Goodridge is a creative and yet exacting teacher who rewards those who
are patient with a sense of accomplishment and well-being seldom experienced by those traveling on this path.

MUSIC

Arthur has composed a powerful series of pieces of music, but my personal favorites have been his Cello Sonatas. I had the privilege of being page turner for his recording session and later for a performance of these, and so I speak from an intimate knowledge of the music. In almost all cases, no matter how much I love a piece of music, when I get to the point where I am over exposed, when I have over indulged, like eating too much chocolate, the music loses its magic. But in the many years since these pieces were completed and debuted, they have remained as fresh and evocative as they were when I first heard them, if not more so. Somehow, Arthur has managed to imbue his music with the healing properties of his other practices! Listening to these cello sonatas has at times been as restorative as the tai chi/qigong and meditative practices that are at the heart of Arthur's teaching.
--Ellen Grabiner

Arthur's music is calming, jarring, soft, intense and unpredictable. He makes you both feel and think at another level. I love to listen to the Cello Sonatas as I meditate and to feel the vibrations of the cello work their way through my body.
